Microsoft Hyper-V Virtualization

Microsoft Hyper-V is a system of hardware virtualization for x64 hypervisor based systems, which provides direct access to the guest systems (i.e. without the intermediate virtual drivers, slowing the operation) to server devices (disk, memory, processor, etc.). This innovative technology allows you to not worry about the performance of your virtual machine, as all resources are dedicated and guaranteed.

Hyper-V is built on hypervisor principle with microkernel. Hypervisor architecture assumes that virtual machine monitor (VMM) is installed directly above hardware, unlike the case where VMM runs in the environment of the host operating system. This approach to VMM structure allows achieving higher operation speed, as it eliminates overheads associated with operation of the host OS.

Through the use of synthetic drivers in Hyper-V which do not require additional emulation of virtual devices, data exchanges in I/O operations are much faster than in case of conventional virtualization solutions.

Advantages:

  • Cost reduction and increase in operational efficiency through the use of a well-known platform – with Hyper-V technology built in Windows Server
  • The advantages of a single set of integrated management tools for physical, virtual and cloud environments with a single console
  • Increased savings compared with VMware due to an unlimited number of virtual instances in data processing and product management center licensed “per processor”
